Last May, Minister Wiersma presented the House with the Basic Skills Master Plan , under the heading ‘students deserve a better foundation’. This plan focuses on strengthening the foundation in language, arithmetic, citizenship and digital literacy of students. In the accompanying news item, the minister praises teachers, who, according to him, do much more than read and write and are perhaps the most important link in the development of children. And students, in the broadest sense of the word, learn how the world around them works…
And: how do teachers who work at the two large school boards in Zaanstad, namely Agora and Zaan Primair, approach this? Both school boards have a clear vision on the education of students. They strive not only for a better, but also a broader basis for students. What does this look like according to these boards? How does this work from policy to practice? And even more: what can you, as a culture maker, do for the broad education of students in schools?
Come to the X-factor at EBS Het Schatrijk and be inspired by the two upper-school culture coordinators, namely Marc van de Geer from Agora and Tamara Caljouw from Zaan Primair. You will go home with knowledge of the board’s priorities and how you can work on these together with schools. For a better and broader basis.
